Where are you located?

Coming from Austin, we are located on the right side of Highway 290 approximately 2 miles past the "Y" in Oak Hill, right next to Read's Automotive. 

We're about 15 minutes from Town Lake/Zilker Park at Mopac

How is Happy Mailman different from other boarding facilities?

During the day, Happy Mailman boarders recieve open, cage-free play time in our indoor and indoor/outdoor play areas. All dogs at Happy Mailman are actively engaged in play throughout the day and supervised by the kennel staff.  We include this open play, plus feeding and necessary medications in our rates.  There are no extra charges to have your dog treated as it would be at home.

What is required for my dog to stay at Happy Mailman?

Happy Mailman boarding and daycare requirements are as follows:

  • All dogs must pass our membership evaluation
  • Puppies be at least 3 months old
  • Verification from your veterinarian that all vaccinations [rabies, DHPP, bordetella*] are current – please have your vet fax shot records prior to your dog's evalutation.
  • Pets 7 Months or older must be spayed or neutered
  • Reservations are required for daycare and boarding: please call (512) 301-2359 or email info@happymailmandogs.com
*Please make sure your vaccinations are current prior to your next reservation*

**Bordetella (kennel cough) must be current or updated at least 7 days before your next reservation start date**

What kind of dogs do you accept for dog day care and boarding?

An open play environment is not suitable for all dogs. Dogs staying with Happy Mailman must first complete an interview so we can evaluate how they interact with other dogs.  All dogs must be over 3 months old, be spayed or neutered (if they are over 7 months of age), and be current on their rabies, bordatella (kennel cough), and distemper vaccinations.

Are there any breeds that are not allowed at Happy Mailman?

We do not discriminate against any breeds.  A problem dog is a problem dog no matter what breed it is.  We have a very thorough evalutation process that allows us to determine which dogs, no matter the breed, are suitable for our facility.

When can I drop off my pet(s)?

Drop off hours are:

Monday-Friday 7-9 AM

Saturday 9-10 AM

We ask that all dogs be dropped off during these hours so that we can ensure adequate play and outside time.  

When can I pick up my pet(s)

Pick-up hours are:

Monday – Friday

Pick-up hours are by appointment from 7am-11am and 3pm-6:30pm. 

Saturday
Pick-up hours are by appointment from 9am-11am and 3pm-5pm

Sunday
Pick-up hours are from 4pm-6pm.

When and what will my dog(s) be fed?

Dogs boarded with Happy Mailman are fed one time a day, in the afternoon. If you have special requests such as multiple feedings for medications, please let us know when checking your dog in. Happy Mailman encourages you to bring your pet’s own food to help protect against stomach upset. For customers bringing their own food, we do request that the food be brought in using pre-portioned baggies. If you do not bring your pet’s regular food, we serve Flint River Ranch all natural dog food at no additional charge.

Daycare dogs are not given meals during their stay but will receive treats for good behavior.

What happens if my pet is injured or becomes ill?

Our kennel staff is knowledgeable about canine first aid and is equipped to handle minor injuries. In the event of illness or serious injury, we will take your pet to your regular vet if possible or to an emergency care vet for immediate attention. Happy Mailman assures that you will be notified if your dog is taken to the vet for any reason.

Do you offer discounted rates for multiple dogs?

We sure do!  We understand that having multiple dogs can get pretty expensive and we'd like to help out.  Please visit our pricing section for more information.

May I leave toys or bedding with my dog?

We encourage our overnight guests to bring bedding.  It can provide familiarity and relief while away from home. For safety reasons, we do not allow toys under any circumstances.  Many toys on the market can break or come apart and become safety hazards in a matter of minutes.  We provide plenty of toys that are safety approved and fun for the dogs to play with.

I see you stock Flint River Ranch food. Do you sell it, too?

We sure do!  Stop by and pick some up from us or click here to order it from our distributor site and have it shipped directly to you.

What are your holiday boarding requirements?

To ensure we have space for your pet(s) during the holidays, please make your reservations as early as possible. Because holidays are peak boarding periods, a 50% deposit is required at the time a holiday reservation is made. Holiday reservations include any reservation that incorporates any of the following dates:

  • Memorial Day
  • July 4th
  • Labor Day
  • Thanksgiving
  • Christmas Eve, Christmas Day
  • New Year's Eve,  New Year's Day.

Happy Mailman requests a 2 week notice for the cancellation of any holiday reservation. Cancellations made less than 2 weeks in advance are subject to loss of the 50% deposit.

What if I need to cancel or change a reservation?

To cancel a non-holiday reservation, we request a minimum cancellation notice of 48 hours. Call Happy Mailman at (512) 301-2359 to cancel or change your reservation.

No-shows or reservations canceled with less than a 48 hour notice are subject to a charge of one night of boarding.

Early pickups:


If 24 hour notice is not given, early pickups will be charged the full price of the first night canceled, plus 50% of the total nights remaining in the reservation.

Daycare Cancellations:

Reservations are required for daycare.  We require 24 hour notice if you wish to cancel a daycare day.  No-shows are subject to a full day charge or will be deducted from pre-paid package when applicable.
