Where are you located?

Coming from Austin, we are located on the right side of Highway 290 approximately 3 miles past the "Y" in Oak Hill, right next to Read's Automotive. 

We're about 15 minutes from Town Lake/Zilker Park at Mopac

How is Happy Mailman different from other boarding facilities?

During the day, Happy Mailman boarders recieve open, cage-free play time in our indoor and indoor/outdoor play areas. All dogs at Happy Mailman are actively engaged in play throughout the day and supervised by the kennel staff.  We include this open play, plus feeding and necessary medications in our rates.  There are no extra charges to have your dog treated as it would be at home.

What is required for my dog to stay at Happy Mailman?

Happy Mailman boarding and daycare requirements are as follows:

  • All dogs must pass our membership evaluation
  • Puppies be at least 3 months old
  • Verification from your veterinarian that all vaccinations [rabies, DHPP, bordetella*] are current – please have your vet fax shot records prior to your dog's evalutation.
  • Pets 7 Months or older must be spayed or neutered
  • Reservations are required for daycare and boarding: please call (512) 301-2359 or email info@happymailmandogs.com
Please make sure your vaccinations are current prior to your next reservation.  Current flea and heartworm prevetion is required at all times.

*Bordetella (kennel cough) must be current or updated at least 7 days prior to your next reservation start date.

What kind of dogs do you accept for dog day care and boarding?

An open play environment is not suitable for all dogs. Dogs staying with Happy Mailman must first complete an interview so we can evaluate how they interact with other dogs.  All dogs must be over 3 months old, be spayed or neutered (if they are over 7 months of age), and be current on their rabies, bordatella (kennel cough), and distemper vaccinations.

Are there any breeds that are not allowed at Happy Mailman?

We do not discriminate against any breeds. A problem dog is a problem dog no matter what breed it is. We have a very thorough evalutation process that allows us to determine which dogs, no matter the breed, are suitable for our facility.

When can I drop off and pick up my dog(s)?

Doggy daycare customers can drop off their dogs between 7am and 10am in the morning and pick them up between 4pm and 6:30pm in the evening.  Saturday drop off is 8am to 10am and pickup between 4pm and 6pm.  We do not have daycare on Sundays.

Boarding customers can drop off and pick up their dogs during either morning or afternoon office hours, whatever is more convenient for you. 

When and what will my dog(s) be fed?

Happy Mailman dogs are fed up to twice a day, in the late morning and again in the evening before bedtime. If your dog has a sensitive stomach or is a newcomer to Happy Mailman, we encourage you to bring your pet’s own food to help protect against stomach upset. Please be sure to label your food and feeding amounts (many of our customers use pre-portioned baggies).

If you do not bring your pet’s regular food, we serve Flint River Ranch all natural dog food at no additional charge.

What happens if my pet is injured or becomes ill?

Our kennel staff is knowledgeable about canine first aid and is equipped to handle minor injuries. In the event of illness or serious injury, we will take your pet to your regular vet if possible or to an emergency care vet for immediate attention. Happy Mailman assures that you will be notified if your dog is taken to the vet for any reason.

Do you offer discounted rates for multiple dogs?

We sure do!  We understand that having multiple dogs can get pretty expensive and we'd like to help out.  Please visit our pricing section for more information.

May I leave toys or bedding with my dog?

We encourage our overnight guests to bring bedding.  It can provide familiarity and relief while away from home. We allow minimal toys for your pet when they are alone, but for safety reasons we do not allow the dogs to play with toys when in their play groups.

I see you stock Flint River Ranch food. Do you sell it, too?

We sure do!  Stop by and pick some up from us or click here to order it from our distributor site and have it shipped directly to you.

What are your holiday boarding requirements?

To ensure we have space for your pet(s) during the holidays, please make your reservations as early as possible. Because holidays are peak boarding periods, we reserve the right to charge 50% of your reservation if you cancel within 5 days of your arrival date that falls on the holiday.

What if I need to cancel or change a reservation?

Happy Mailman prides itself on flexibility.  We will never charge you for a reservation change or cancellation for a non-holiday visit, and you only pay for actual nights stayed.  Thus, if you book a stay until Sunday and come back early for a Saturday pickup, you will not be charged for Saturday night.

We kindly ask that you respect our busy schedule around the holidays.  We reserve the right to charge 50% of your stay for cancellations within 5 days of your arrival date. You can call us at (512) 301-2359 to cancel or change your reservation.

You will never be charged a fee for cancelling or changing a doggy daycare reservation.

Membership Requirements

In order to provide the best quality care possible, all dogs must come in for a "doggy interview" and be accepted for membership prior to boarding or daycare. More Info »

Holiday Office Hours
Our kennel is operational and fully staffed year round. We do not have drop off or pickup hours on major holidays.
