Where are you located?

Our  facility is located 10 miles southwest of downtown Austin on Highway 290 W, just 3 miles past the “Y” in Oak Hill where 290 and 71 split. Coming from Austin, we are located on the right side of the Highway just past the first Circle Drive.

Question 2

How is Happy Mailman different from other boarding facilities?

Happy Mailman has 2 acres of property that provide your dog expansive play yards.  Further, your dog will get hours of play time every day in our care, at no additional charge.

Further, our General Manager, David, has been with us for more than 12 years and lives onsite.

Question 3

What is required for my dog to stay at Happy Mailman?

Happy Mailman boarding and daycare requirements are as follows:
All dogs must pass an evaluation to ensure they play well with other dogs and people.
All dogs must be at least three months old to give them enough time to build up their immune system.
All vaccinations – Rabies, DHLPP, and Bordetella* – must be current. 
Pets seven months or older must be spayed or neutered.
Current flea and heartworm prevention is required at all times.

What kind of dogs or breeds do you accept for dog daycare and boarding?

We do not breed discriminate at Happy Mailman; however, an open play environment is not suitable for all dogs. Dogs staying with Happy Mailman must first complete a trial day so we can evaluate how they interact with other dogs. All dogs must be over 3 months old, be spayed or neutered (if they are over seven months of age), and be current on vaccinations. Unfortunately we are unable to accept dogs that show aggression towards other dogs or people.

Question 5

When can I drop off and pick up my dog(s)?

Doggy daycare customers can drop off their dogs between 7:00am and 11:00am in the morning and pick them up between 4:00pm and 7:00pm in the evening Monday-Saturday. We do not have daycare on Sundays, but have office hours from 4:00pm to 6:30pm for overnight boarders.

Boarding customers can drop off and pick up their dogs during either morning or afternoon office hours, whatever is more convenient for you. Morning drop-off's allow for more play time for your pup at no extra charge!

Question 6

When and what will my dog(s) be fed?

Happy Mailman dogs are fed up to twice a day, in the late morning and again in the evening before bedtime. If your dog has a sensitive stomach or is a newcomer to Happy Mailman, we encourage you to bring your pet’s own food to help protect against stomach upset. Please be sure to label your food and feeding amounts (many of our customers use pre-portioned baggies).

If you do not bring your pet’s regular food, we will feed your dog a dry, grain free dog food at $2 per night per dog.

Question 7

What happens if my pet is injured or becomes ill?

Our kennel staff is knowledgeable about canine first aid and is equipped to handle minor injuries. In the event of illness or serious injury, we will take your pet to your regular vet if possible or to an emergency care vet for immediate attention. Happy Mailman assures that you will be notified if your dog is taken to the vet for any reason.

Do you offer discounted rates for multiple dogs?

Question 9

May I leave toys or bedding with my dog?

Accepted Answer

Our overnight guests are welcome to bring bedding, which can provide familiarity and relief for your dog while away from home. We allow toys for your pet when they are alone, but for safety reasons we do not allow the dogs to play with toys when in their play groups.

Question 10

What if I need to cancel or change a reservation?

Accepted Answer

Happy Mailman prides itself on flexibility. We will never charge you for a reservation change or cancellation for a non-holiday visit, and you only pay for actual nights stayed. Thus, if you book a stay until Sunday and come back early for a Saturday pickup, you will not be charged for Saturday night.

During holidays, we may take a 50% deposit to hold your reservation. We reserve the right to charge you for 100% of your stay during holidays if you do not cancel at least seven days prior to your drop off date.

You will never be charged a fee for cancelling or changing a doggy daycare reservation.
